As soon as you leave the port of Hyères, the choice is yours. The creeks of Porquerolles, the National Park of Port-Cros and the charms of the peninsula of Giens are only a few kilometres away. Discover from Hyères our selection of yachts and catamarans to rent.
The old port of Marseille is a perfect starting point to rent a yacht and sail away for one or more weeks down the Cote d’Azur. The nearby rocky inlets and Frioul facing you are only a snapshot of the great sailing zone awaiting you.
The yachts from the yards Bénéteau, Jeanneau and Bavaria of Atlantis, Sun Fast, Sun Odyssey and Bavaria Cruiser are mainly available. The location of Saint-Mandrier is ideal for all departures towards destinations such as the Islands of Porquerolles or the inlets of Cassis.
Also known as the little Venice of the Var. Nestled on the side of the gulf of St-Tropez, the lakeside town of Port-Grimaud, as imagined by the architect, François Spoerry is a unique site which welcomes thousands of tourists each year. A bucolic landscape for this marina listed as a world heritage site of the 20th century.
This Mediterranean area can be divided in two zones. On the west side of Toulon, the winds blowing from the Nort West prevail all year round. The Tramontana blows from the Pyrénés at Sète and the mistral comes down the Rhone valley, sometimes reaching Corsica and Sardinia. The sky in this region owes its exceptionnal blue colour to the mistral. The summer breeze rarely exceeds 15 to 20 knots, from the south and the south east. The Mistral has little influence on the east of Toulon..
A marine wind from the South East blows generally as from noon, at not more than 15 knots and stops at nightfall.
Sea and tides : a southern / south westerly sea surge can sometimes occur on the west of Toulon, but it rapidly decreases as it approaches East. The temperature of the water in summer is perfect for all seawater activities. There is no major tide (less than 30 cm).
From Marseille to St-Tropez and crossing the inlets of Cassis, the Hyères islands (Porquerolles, Port-Cros, Levant) and Port-Grimaud, the South of France is the ideal destination for who wishes to discover or re-discover the joys of saiiling in a relatively calm sea well protected by the Mistral.
