Rent a yacht a sail to the discovery of the Greek Islands

Land in Greece, the sailor’s paradise, only a few hours away from Switzerland.

La Grèce à la voile

Discover Greece on board of one of our yacht or catamaran to rent or by enjoying one of our cabin cruises.

With a vast number of wild mooring areas, beautiful welcoming little ports and an easily predictable meteo, the Greek Islands will be a delight for the yachtsmen. The regular winds and the small distance between the different islands facilitates sailing. Should sailing become more sportive at times on the Aegen sea because of the Meltem, there will always be a nearby shelter due to the various mooring points.

Nestled in the middle of the Meditarranean sea, the typical Greek villages harbouring white or coloured houses are reflected in a turquoise blue water which sparkles under an eternally blue sky. Everything is perfect for a dream sailing cruise.

With a wide choice of yachts and catamarans available for rent in Grece, Voile Evasion will be happy to propose to you dream holidays. Wherever you choose to go in Greece or on the Greek Islands, you will sail to the discovery of a rich culture and impressive natural beauties. Your cabin cruise will remain an unforgettable experience. .

Lavrion

Situates at only 30 minutes drive from the international airport of Athens, the marina of Lavrion is the ideal point of departure to sail rapidly to the Cyclades (Ke, Kithnos then Paros, Naxos, Mykonos…). A departure towards the Saronic Islands (Poros, Hydra) is possible in case of strong winds. There, the Meltem is less strong.

Athens (marina Alimos)

The marina Alimois is near the centre of Athens, a few minutes away from the port of Piraeus and less than one hour drive from the international airport. It is a perfect departure point for the Saronic Islands (Egina, Poros, Hydra) and the Peloponnese. You can also visit two famous UNESCO Natural World Heritage sites : the Acropolis with, of course, the Parthenon as well as the Monastery of Daphi. We strongly recommend that you depart from Lavrion if you wish to sail to the Cyclades : the route is faster so that you can save one to two sailing days.

The Cyclades

The Cyclades are located in the south-east of the continent. 220 islands make up the Cyclades and twenty one of them are considered as major islands such as Paros, Syros, Sifnos, Delos, Mykonos and Santorini. Departing towards the Cyclades is usually made from the marina of Lavrion located 30 minutes from the airport of Athens but you can also set sail directly from Paros (port of Paroika). Wherever you choose to stop in the Cyclades, you will discover clear, transparent waters, breathtaking panoramas and a welcoming population.

The Ionian Islands

The golden beaches and the blue waters of the Ionian Islands have been inhabited since Stone Age. The sailboats are found in two rental bases among the 7 main islands and the 30 minor ones : in Corfu (Marina Gouvia) and in Lefkas (Marina Lefkas). At either one or the other, agreeable saiing conditions towards the rest of the Ionian Islands await you, among which Paxos and Ithaca.

The Sporades Islands

Four main islands and twenty four minor islands make up the Sporades in the Aegen Sea. The sailboats are found on the island of Skiathos, well-known for its fortresses. This forested island offers numerous beaches and creeks and is home to the Mediterannean monk seals.

The Dodecanese Islands

The Greek meaning of their name is « twelve » because there are 12 major islands (and 120 minor islands) nestled in the south of the Aegan Sea off the Turkish coasts. Kos and Rhodes, two of them, have been important commercial centres. Voile Evasion provides you with yachts (sailboats or catamaran) to rent on these two islands. The marina of Kos is guarded by a fourteenth century fortress. This island was once home to the Medical School of Hippocrates and was also the main commercial centre in the antic era. “Paradise Beach“ is an agreeable relaxing place. Shaped like a spearhead, Rhodes Island once hosted one of the seven Wonders of the Antic World – the Colossus of Rhodes – until an earthquake in 226 B.C. destroyed this symbol of prosperity. When going to your yacht in the port of Mandraki, you can stop to see a pair of bronze stags where the Colossus used to stand. The island is reputed to host deers. You will also find, in the Valley of Pétaludes, rare species of butterflies and hibiscus flowers.

Wind

The prevailing wind is the Meltem which blows from the north as from June (force 5/6) and can reach 7/8 in July –August in the Cyclades and the Dodecanese Islands before settling in October. For families and persons desirous of a calmer sailing, we recommend the Ionian islands ( Lefkas and Corfu) and the Sporades.

Temperature

Greece enjoys a mediterranean climate. The average air temperature is 30 degrees in July-August, that of the sea around 26 degrees.
