Are you ready to cross the Atlantic to go sailing in the warm and fishy waters of Mexico?
Then don't hesitate any longer and rent your sailboat or catamaran in Mexico from La Paz (Sea of Cortez - Mexico) or Cancun (Yukatan).
We are delighted to be able to show you this little corner of paradise, starting with the video shot there by the Voile Evasion crew:
Our partner's fleet of charter yachts to rent is based at the private marina of the magnificent Costa Baja Resort & Spa. This luxurious resort offers a breathtaking view of the Sea of Cortes and has direct access to the beach of La Paz as well as a private swimming pool where you can relax while waiting for your yacht or catamaran to be ready for departure. There is an impressive array of facilities including shops, restaurants offering international cuisine with a unique regional flavour, a spa and an 18-hole golf course.
In Spanish, La Paz means 'peace' and that's exactly what you'll experience in this coastal town where everything is serene. Indeed, although the city is an economic and political centre of the region, it has managed to preserve its natural and relaxed way of life.
An authentic and 100% natural cruise awaits you. You'll discover whale sharks, sea lions, pelicans and other aquatic life, as well as secret anchorages and pristine, almost deserted beaches.
The regional capital, La Paz, with its pretty Costabaja marina, is the starting point for your adventure. From there, head north to the most beautiful beaches of Baja California and the islands of Espiritu Santo, San Francisco and San José. Keep your eyes peeled along the way for a glimpse of the magnificent wildlife that populates this archipelago, which is protected from mass tourism.
If you are looking for a sailing area that offers beautiful beaches and the chance to see whale sharks and lemon sharks, swim with turtles and enjoy food inspired by Mayan culture, Cancun, Mexico is an unforgettable destination. Yachts, sailboats and catamarans for charter from our partners are located at Marina Las Velas on Isla Mujeres.
Relax on the soft white sand beaches of the Riviera Maya, such as Las Perlas, Tulum and Mamitas Beach in Playa del Carmen. Dive into the Mesoamerican Reef in Playa del Carmen or try surfing at Playa Chac Mool in Cozumel. Snorkelers will love the impressive Museum of Underwater Sculpture (MUSA), with nearly 500 sculptures at Salon Manchones, Isla Mujeres, and more than 30 at Punta Nizuc, Cancun.
On land, you'll find some of the finest examples of archaeological treasures. Follow in the footsteps of ancient civilisations in the Mayan city of Chichen Itza, one of the seven wonders of the world, or discover the coastal ruins of Tulum. Sail to Isla Holbox to see 150 species of birds, including flamingos, snorkel the stunning reefs of Cozumel and stroll the beaches of Puerto Morelos. If the beautiful anchorages and rich history aren't enough, then you'll find plenty of entertainment and nightlife, golf courses, great restaurants and a warm welcome to make your Mexico and Cancun charter cruise a holiday to remember.
The best time of year to sail in Mexico is from December to April. January to March are the high season months, with low humidity, little rain, sunny skies and warm temperatures around 28°C. Sea temperatures are cooler than in the summer months but still good for swimming.
If you want to see whale sharks, it is advisable to sail between May and September. This is the off-season and the weather is generally still good and there are no crowds!
On the La Paz side, summer is hot, even very hot, so bring sun cream and a hat or cap. The wind blows regularly between 10 and 15 knots on average.
